The storyline of Unknown Abyss consists of a series of events, leading up to where the universe is now.
2004 - First civilian travels into the reaches of space tantalizing the population of Earth into seeking a trip to space themselves. Corporations begin considering building tourism for space.
2010 - Mainstream travel through space occurs and space stations able to sustain life are created on mass for the thousands of travelers.
2023 - Major breakthrough in space ship engineering causes spaceships now to be made at 200% better quality at 25% the cost. This causes a boom in space travel and manufacturing causes tourism cost to drop and hundreds of thousands vouch to go to space and to possibly live there all together. A few dozen more space stations are set up to house these people. The first few tens of thousands of people begin living outside earth.
2030 - Plans for a station on the surface of the moon are announced by the U.N. and also the Nebula expedition set to launch in 2041. A hundred thousand people live in space after dozens more space stations are produced by various companies and nations (most associated with the U.N.).
2034 - Opion Towers, a space station, has life support system generator failures. Evacuation of the station comes swift but for some too late as oxygen levels decrease rapidly. Tens of thousands die in the catastrophe. Many different causes are found, but damning reports point to the former owner of Opion towers Mitch Thorn, a technological giant in his age that helped develop the new technology. The rumors are that he and his group of radical followers were upset when his space station was seized and sold because he was found guilty of treason. Mitch Thorn and his followers immediately fled and set up a small group of a mere two thousand followers who hacked into computer systems across space and left for whereabouts unknown. Opion Towers was repaired but after another similar situation happened, very few people wanted to reside there so the space station turned into a refueling station for the companies millions of barges. The person or persons responsible for the problem was never found.
2042 - Through strides in scientific and economic advancements the United Nations launched their mission to the moon. Hoping for a place to harvest the rare ores of Luna and scientific development, many of the United Nations countries invested in Talisman Corporation, a small aeronautics company founded by Gregory Talisman and funded by the exploding space travel economy. Thanks to the International Space Station, Prosperity City, and a slew of other space stations, efforts on the "Luna City" was hurried after tensions in 2040 between Nuclear North Korea, the rising power China, and the Cuban civil war that has been going on for more than 30 years since the death of their communist dictator Fidel Castro in 2009. The Luna city is near completion as well as many other space stations as over one million residents now live outside the Earth's atmosphere.
2044 - Nebula Expedition begins with twenty ships containing well over fifteen million colonists embarking on a voyage to colonize space far past the asteroid belt. The Voyage is set to take nearly thirteen years shorter to complete because of extreme propulsion advancements, compliments of Talisman Corporation. Luna City hits a few bumps and is scheduled to be finished within the next year. Population of humans living outside earth reaches past 50 million as the jump to space hits a peak.
2046 - Luna City is finally completed and the complex the size of Rhode Island is completed on the surface and interior of the moon. The Nebula Expedition nears Mars as tensions escalade on the Earth. U.S. begins dusting their weapons as well as many other nations. A record 150,000 people move to Luna City by the end of the year and the population of people outside earth's atmosphere reaches 175 million. Talisman Corporation receives the award for the Company of the Year and moves it’s Headquarters off of earth and onto Luna City. The runner up is Altec Incorporated, a space ship parts producer, lead by Mr. Allen Lansing and the fastest growing company is Zeus Corp, leaders in engine technology.
2047 - Luna City becomes self-sufficient and thousands of animals are imported from earth into the new hydroponics chambers on Luna. Half a million residents call Luna City home. The Nebula Expedition leaves the asteroid belt just before communications with NASA are cut off due to Korean nuclear missiles slamming into the U.S. Total havoc breaks out as millions flee the earth as the nuclear war begins to take its peak. Communications were cut off almost completely except for the few spaceship transmissions from those leaving the planet. With space being constricted on Luna City they pass 15 million residents and quickly begin covering the rest of the moon. Lunarian Nation is created also first of the nations outside the earth. Slowly Lunarians have little space left and people begin moving into further reaches of space around the asteroid belt and mars with whatever supplies they can manage. All the Lunarians can do is watch as explosions occur on earth. The toxic fireworks show slows down quite a bit but the war rages on. Lunarians form the Grey Council in the time of need to determine what to do and it becomes a main player in the Lunar Government.
2053 - Lunarians build over the entire moon increasing the population to 200 million residents on Luna City. The Lunarians dig deeper into the planet to increase the habitation area. Earth Village is manufactured between the earth and the moon using as its base, the international space station, added to the population of the Lunarians. The Lunarian Government announces it houses 50 million residents by the end of the year. More cities were made such as Talisman. This lies beyond the outskirts of the moon and owned by the Talisman Corporation. Its massive complex houses 75 million residents and continues to grow as more people come from earth causing the manufacture of more housing sections. The Nebula Expedition reaches Neptune and 10 ships begin building a city named Nexus Station. Ten other ships were reported to have continued on their journey but communications had become garbled due to the distances between the Lunarians and expedition. Planet Earth's war dwindles down and explosions rarely are seen on the planet. Few people recently have been seeing fleeing the planet so situation is unknown.
2055 - Planet Earth's war cannot be seen because dark toxic clouds circle the planet. A huge group of roughly 250 million people flee earth in what was thought to be the last space worthy ships in a massive rush to escape death the planet. By bringing the last materials they have, these people move towards the asteroid belt and build the city called Fallout. The Nebula Expedition has mainly disappeared except for a rare transmission from Nexus Station.
2063 - Titan Nation is established from the moons of Mars to Jupiter. Talisman Corporation builds another city named Talisman Labs for research and development after their leader Gregory Talisman disappeared without a trace. He turned over the company to his only child also named Gregory. Three months later Gregory Talisman Senior and his ship were found in a barren area of space. Within his ship there was a notebook with his drawings of what looked like doors to a futuristic house. Also in his notebook it mentioned he hid a key to prevent the pirates from retrieving the information. The information mentioned in the notebook how to get to the “door” was conveniently lost after his son gained control of the document. The last humans, roughly 75 million people are the last to leave earth in spaceships that are literally made from discarded space projects and museum pieces. Since no lunarian space was available thanks to the cautiousness due to Talismans death and the Titans also refusing them entry anywhere except mars, the last of Earths survivors quietly gained control over a small piece of land on Mars. They became known as the nomads. The last man to leave earth was Cyrius Jakobs and he became very rich because of his ill fate.
2070 - More space stations were built and the asteroid belt became a main source of raw supplies to build the space stations. After nearly 18 years of silence the Nebula Expedition and Lunarians were reunited and the Mystic nation was formed. informed the Council they built stations and a large metropolis called Hope City far in the Kuiper Belt how they got there is unknown.
2084 - The Sabaea Federation starts a war with the Titans, staged the Martian Liberation Campaign and named themselves the Nomads. The Titans named the revolt the “Infidel Invasion. During the revolt the Lunarians, afraid of another Earth Catastrophe, chose not to side with either group. The nomads amazingly survived and won a few battles but the war continued.
2087 - Sabaean forces also gain control of 50% of the Martian planet. Titans begin launching full scale attacks at the Sabaeans.
2091 - Mitch Thorn is found guilty of treason and flees the Lunarian nation to form his own secret society of the Black Death. They were never found but attacks through electronic virus methods proved a deadly weapon as a fleet of 100 ships flew into a region rumoured to be in control by the Black Death, immediately after leaving the viewable range of long scanners, the ships were violently attacked with electronic shocks destroying their communications and disabling major components. After 30 minutes of silence the elite shock troops were ordered in to search the engagement zone for the attack force. Amazingly the only thing that was found was one ship that was in condition unable to operate due to large electronic damage to its systems. Hijacking was the official record entered in the files that is believed to have occurred but to this day it is still unknown what happened.
2095 - Sabaean rebels are beaten back from 50% to 35% of available land mass on Mars and seem to be losing their hard fought for ground. People opposed of the war on Mars flee into the asteroid belt. Once safely in the belt they form a small society of close knit miner families that resided in the mines on Mars. The alliance they form with each other is known as The Brotherhood Alliance but later their name is shortened to the Brotherhood. They gain control of a small unclaimed region and begin structuring their society.
2098 - Sabaean Forces are pushed back to holding 20% of the available land as Titans push their troops forward. Sabaean forces quietly negotiate with the Lunarians for weapons and ammunition in exchange for Mars' two moons. This agreement permits the Sabaea Federation forces to use new weapons against the Titan’s older models.
2105 - Sabaean Forces gain control of the majority Mars. The war continues as the Titans try to regain what was theirs and also fight off the hordes attacking the moons and the asteroid belts. Lunarians begin building solar stations to collect energy near Mercury and Venus. Power Costs decrease by 76% as the new energy is added to the power grid.
2111 - The Martian War ends with Sabaeans controlling Mars and all the moons The Sabaeans fulfil their contract and turn over control of all the moons to the Lunarians as thanks for their help. Lunarians immediately begin sending people to the moons to explore but on one of the moons, many people disappear without a trace which leads many to believe the moon is cursed or the Black Death is around the region which leaves the territory unexplored for many years.
