Unknown Abyss is centered on three main races: The Titans, the Lunarians, and the Mystics.
The Titans
Military muscle of the universe with their gleaming army.
93% of the population is enrolled in the army and their staggering forces quickly outnumber any of their competition yet their technology is old and their vaults are empty. Only by war they can sustain their wealth and military but it’s a matter of where to gain wealth. The Titan’s left earth during the nuclear war to escape toxic death from the planets ever weakening atmosphere. Quickly they rose to power as the military strength and intend to keep it that way.
Originally they settled in with the Lunarians they slowly begin to show unhappiness under the Lunarian ways and government. Eventually space within the Lunarian nation was hard to find and run ins with the law had forced many of the families to reconsider where they would be staying. Finally after a final problem within the Lunarian government occurred the future Titan families in the thousands were removed from the Lunarian Society and were kicked out of the faction indefinitely. They purchased enough to get them to mars and their they set up shop and eventually did well. Mars laid unclaimed by anyone in particular except for some families and soon the Titans wanted to expand their claims. A small war broke out on mars as each group fought for control. Using their weapons they brought from earth and got from the lunarians the Titans eventually trained enough to overtake mars. Once the war ended stations were built on and one outside in space around mars. Soon the Titan Nation was completely formed as a solid faction in the Universe where it quickly spread to the asteroid belt Jupiter Saturn and Uranus as well.
Unfortunately a few decades after they rose as the military muscle a group of people settled on mars and eventually caused a war over its control. After losing briefly the Sabaeans as they were called gained a lot of mars. Slowly they lost ground but eventually they gained control of all of mars and the Titans suffered an embarrassing defeat over their once starting place. Since then the Titans have been building up their military and starting to increase their exploration and trading to jumpstart their dead economy.
Spartans: Most popular group in the titan nation makes up most of the population and rules most of the country. This is a strict group of warriors for the Titans that worship fighting and everything about it. They are the smartest on the battlefield, have a knowledge of strategy and tactics, very strong, yet very old fashioned as to their techniques and technology which has caused them to be a decreasing military power in the Universe. Many argue that there needs to be a change to a more Scientific way but still others want to preserve the past. These people are also flat broke which causes them to not be able to fund their military well and their economy is in a large depression that seems it never will recover from. It’s a good think most Spartans fight for glory because without it they would not be payed enough to maintain their vast army.
Bounties: This is the breed of warriors known as Titan explorers sent to explore the reaches of space to hunt down the Garr and find their precious home world. They are payed in the loot they find but over the past decade were formed to protect the Titans from an unpredictable weapon The Garr Forces. So far they have come up empty handed but have destroyed some precious ships and gained some new weaponry which has been trying to bring back the Titan Superpower slowly. They are very thick yet quiet and pack a decent punch. Although they are thick their hull and shields are weaker than a normal Warrior so they make up in increased speed and agility of firing their weapons faster. They have slowly begun to push the former 95% of the population of titans as warriors down to 93% warriors... hopefully with the help of the merchants they can rebuild a strong economy for the titans or at the least find where the garr forces are. Due to the recent increase in Bounties the Titans have discovered more about the world around them particularly how to use it as a battlefield...
The Lunarians
Before the war on earth, the moon was colonized by Terrans. Large groups of people began moving after tension escalated between the United Nations and Communist nations such as North Korea and China.
With their military weapons program, the Communist nations were threatening major invasion of their surrounding border countries to increase their land and mineral deposits. The Luna Colony began self-sustaining themselves one year before hostilities erupted in the Northern Hemisphere. Communications were suspended with Earth and all they could do was watch the destruction. They began planning, researching, building up their strength and their constitution and stocking trade goods as the destruction on a global scale enveloped their home world.
Over hundreds of years they focused mainly on their government, technology, and building. They quickly utilized all space on the moon and are looking towards other places to build which is causing tension with the Titans who claim a large portion of habitable area that the Lunarians are starting to encroach on. They are the technological and governmental wonder of the universe but slowly they are looking to utilizing and increasing a military division to push their claims a little farther.
The Mystics
The Mystics were a secluded, secretive race. They left earth before the nuclear war in large ships destined for Saturn and further out. They were passing Jupiter when the NASA station leading them was destroyed by a nuclear explosion and from that eventful day they relied on themselves for navigation. By exploring all known areas of space without any input from Earth, it forced on them to be the best navigators through the stars. Recently unconfirmed reports has said the secretive race has found technology made from a race other than human and they praise these for both technological and religious purposes. Their technology is very good but not much is known about it outside of their race and nobody outside of the Mystics has penetrated Hope City, their major city in the Kuiper Belt to determine if the rumours are true.
The Sythins: The Sythins are a small group of extremely skilled warriors. Formed shortly after Dr. Syth an intelligent man leading the Mystic nation in mechanical development. Finally after years of work he developed the first beam weapon whose main purpose was for fighting not for mining or repair work. His perfect timing of creation being finished was on the beginning of a small Titan invasion that occurred near Jupiter and Neptune. Although the titans did manage to gain control of the regions they were stopped abruptly at Pluto when their main brigade of troops was destroyed by the new "Sythin Beam". They ended the war and they retreated past Neptune leaving it as a neutral territory. Celebrations occurred throughout the Mystic Nation as Dr. Syth was declared a national hero.
Despite this win against the Titans military modernization still did not occur throughout the Mystic nation. Dr. Syth and his team of a few dozen people eventually made a few newer models and formed the small defense team for the Mystics they named the Sythin Beam Brigade.
The name after many decades was shortened to the Sythins. For a while the Sythins the protectors of all Mystics were very rare making up only around 5% of the population. This soon changed when rising enemies posed a threat such as the Garr, Black Death, and the eerie reports of the once members of the Nebula Expedition now calling themselves the forgotten.
Using the technologies invented and the ones from the artifacts discovered the Sythins have advanced and deadly weapons. Being the fastest growing profession in the Mystic nation they now preside around 15% of the population. With the rise of enemies and troubled times the Sythins are increasingly busy watching and making more elaborate weapons to protect their nation and more importantly themselves.
